Motivation to Serve

Dave Kurshat tells a story about Joe Sharpe, a veteran and single parent, for his Public Speaking class at Oakland University.

Joe grew up in White Lake Michigan and now attends Oakland University as a Business Operations student. He enlisted at age 20 into the Marine Corp and experienced diversity throughout eight years of service. Learning of different cultures and the world around him during his experience as a Marine, he felt like he became more humble. He now has a six year-old son who he loves and wants the very best for. With Joe not being an average Joe, he will do the good just he can do.
