Alayna shares her experiences dealing with anxiety as a college student in a short audio story.

Hi, my name is Alayna and welcome to my blog. If you are new here, and never have checked out my blog before, I am doing this blog for school, and this semester we are focusing on the topic of health, and today’s podcast is going to go over the topic of health as well, but, I am going to focus on anxiety today. I’m going to give you a little background about anxiety, what it means for me, what it is, and a few tips that I do to help myself feel better when I’m feeling anxious.

So, starting with anxiety, it’s something that makes people feel worried or panicked, and sometimes it’s for a reason, and other times there is something that may trigger it. For me, a lot of times, it’s just random. I probably started experiencing anxiety when I was about 19 or so more frequently. I’ve always been kind of a nervous kid, but it got a little worse as I grew up.

Some of my favorite things to do to help myself when I’m feeling anxious are cooking and baking. This is because eating a nice, fresh meal makes me feel really good and happy. But also, cooking and baking eases my mind and takes my mind off of things that are causing me stress and anxiety. So, it’s a really nice activity for me to do when I’m feeling anxious.

Another thing that I really like to do when I’m feeling anxious is working out because, again, this gets my mind off of whatever’s causing me anxiety, but it also helps release happy chemicals in the brain which make you feel good! So, after I work out, I feel like I relieved some stress and I feel just a lot happier and healthier.

Finally, the third thing that I like to do to prioritize my mental health and help me feel less anxious is getting outside. I think it’s really important for all of us to get fresh air and being outside is just something that helps me feel so calm, even it’s it’s just going on a quick walk around the block or taking my dogs outside, going to a park, bike ride – honestly anything. I always feel so much better after being outside.

So those are my top three things that help me feel less anxious. Thank you so much for listening today and for checking out my blog, and I will see you again next time.
